A logical consistency report for geometry was conducted using the ArcGIS Check Geometry tool. The tool was used to identify the following feature geometry errors: short segment, null geometry, incorrect ring ordering, incorrect segment orientation, self-intersections, unclosed rings, and empty parts. This dataset does not contain any geometric errors. A logical consistency report for attribution was not conducted, though attribute values were manually checked for quality assurance.

Data are assumed to be complete along the Massachusetts coast per the US Army Corps of Engineers Digital Project Notebook; numerous dredged locations not involving federal outlays or specifications are not included in this datalayer. Beach nourishment projects identified in the USACE Digital Project Notebook are represented in a separate dataset.

A positional accuracy report was not conducted for these data. Horizontal accuracy will differ between features (i.e., dredge projects) as the overall quality of source data was inconsistent. I.e., some dredged channels are depicted on 2003-2006 NOAA nautical charts, whereas others are not (due to, perhaps, currentness; historically dredged areas are included per the USACE Digital Project Notebook). The prioritization of source data for digitization of dredge area extents is: current NOAA nautical charts (at the largest scale available), USACE Digital Project Notebook narrative (hyperlinked to spatial data), USACE generalized project maps (hyperlinked to spatial data), and 2005 MassGIS orthophotos (0.5m spatial resolution).

Geospatial editing occurred at a 1:5000 map scale using a MassGIS 2005 orthophoto base. Attribute data were edited for consistency with USACE Digital Project Notebook records and ease of use. Metadata were revised to reflect these changes.
